issue 014: many frames & many selves
From liminal spaces to counterculture scenes, this week’s (mostly) photography pieces capture the selves we show—and the ones we've yet to explore.
Hi artsies,
I’m writing this week’s issue from the road—Las Vegas last week, LA over the weekend, and now on to San Diego. One of the best parts of traveling is imagining and confronting our different selves. Seeing old friends and meeting new ones, in places familiar or completely new, reminds me that we’re made up of many versions—some we’ve yet to meet.
Anyway, it was a busy news week in the art world: two major galleries (Kasmin and Clearing) announced shocking closures, The Studio Museum in Harlem set its opening date, and 63 works from The Henry and Rose Pearlman Foundation are headed to LACMA, MoMA, and The Brooklyn Museum.
This week’s reads feel like those moments on the road—unexpected encounters, beautiful juxtapositions, unfamiliar views made familiar. We’re moving through liminal spaces and strange faces, appreciating the avant-garde, brushing up against intimacy, and embracing the edges of counterculture.
No descriptions this week, just images.
